Eleocharis parvula, also known as dwarf spikerush, grows in intertidal freshwater mudflats. Their small, delicate leaf blades stand only a few inches tall and spreads by thin rhizome, into dense tufts and carpets of low-growing vegetation. Dwarf spikerush is perfectly at home along a pond edge that experiences summer draw down, its foliage will fill in the muddy shoreline helping to stabilize the soil.

Eleocharis parvula, Dwarf spikerush, is a perennial with smooth round solid stems which form an oval spike flower on the tips. Just under 3" tall, Dwarf spikerush can be grown individually or in nice tight clusters along shorelines or shallow water forming an ankle deep almost turf-like mat. Dwarf spikerush is pioneering wetland species that handles water fluctuations quite well making it ideally suited for ponds and basins that undergo large drawdowns.
