Rudbeckia fulgida var. fulgida is a clump-forming, abundant yellow late-season blooming perennial. Also known as Orange coneflower or Black-eyed susan, these bright yellow flowers can be found growing in meadows, prairies, and perennial gardens. Rudbeckia fulgida var. fulgida's bright flowers have a central disk of dark chocolate brown with bright green stems and leaves. All of these rise to about 2-3' tall, grown best in full sun in moist but well-draining soils. Rudbeckia fulgida var. fulgida compares to similar species by having narrower, glossy leaves, and somewhat smaller flowerheads. A well-loved winter food source for overwintering birds, like gold finches, and sparrows.
